Underfloor heating is the heating system that uses the floor to conduct heat. Other parts of the building can be used instead of the floor, such as the walls or the ceiling, but the floor is the most common one.
It is the modern version of the Roman hypocaust and the Gloria system..
The biggest advantage of this heating system is that it has an impact on the resultant temperature, which is influenced by the mean radiant temperature and the dry-bulb temperature. In this particular case, having a higher mean radiant temperature, the dry-bulb temperature can be lowered by two or three degrees, which reduces heat loss outwards without decreasing thermal comfort..
In this case, the system is similar to a central heating system. There is a boiler or another heating means and a distribution network, but it uses the floor as transmitter (or another part of the building, although it is strange to see this in central heating systems), under which there is a pipe meandering. Thus, the tubes lie at a relatively reduced distance (between 8 and 30 cm, or between 3 and 12 inches).
There are basically two ways to do it: through metallic electrical resistance systems or using carbon fibers as resistance.
